At Encore we are trained to fit pointe shoes by Grishko and Capezio
Please call us on
to book your fitting.
Please be aware that fittings usually take one hour per person. You will be fitted and shoes will be available for collection/delivery at a later date.
Lots of issues are taken in to account before you are able to go on to pointe such as:
You must have your ballet teacher’s permission
Your age - bones are still growing
Level of ballet achieved and amount of hours that are attended in ballet class weekly.
Preparatory training that has already taken place in order to strengthen the muscles in, and around the foot.
Preparation for the fitting:
Attend with clean feet
Ensure toe nails are cut short - but not too short that they are uncomfortable.
Do not attend with a blister or skin damage.
If you have a veruca, please ensure it is covered with a plaster.
Wear convertible ballet tights.
Wear a skirt/shorts so that we are able to see your lower legs.
If you have had pointe shoes fitted previously, please bring the old pair with you.
You may wish to see the following videos on youtube to aid with your strengthening exercises:
Ankle Strength Using a Exercise band
Single Leg Rises
Doming to improve intrinsic muscle strength
Exercise Band Stretches Demi through to Pointe (add a rolled up towel under your knee to prevent hyper-extension)
