Panto Auditions

I took my children to their first pantomime auditions recently and it's very interesting how they are all done differently.

I must admit after all the years of attending auditions for other productions and feeling tense waiting outside - I think I prefer not being in there.

One of the pantomime auditions required parents to sit inside the auditorium.  The parents were chatty which may have been distracting for the producers and the kids, and there was whooping during performances.  Then there was the cut after the initial dance had been taught. It was hard seeing the kids getting upset in front of their peers and even more so the parents who were disappointed.

Although you could see for yourself what was happening which gives you understanding as to why certain choices may have been made - I found it all very uncomfortable. I prefer to wait for the email rather than hear on the day too  :)

The children and the staff at the auditions all work so hard under stressful and time constrained conditions, you've really got to hand it to them. These shows are their babies and its so important to get their choices right, I've no idea how they can do that in 2 hours!

I hope that all of you have auditioned recently have enjoyed and learned from the experience - if it didn't happen this time, chin up and strive on!
